We prefer original material here at Right Moves but, I just couldn't help stealing this from another blog (The Jawa Report http://mypetjawa.mu.nu/) who got it from the National Review Online who got it from the Local Transport Today publication (UK). This is a UK "climate scientist" at the Policy Studies Institute (a wacky left think tank in London). Note the dictatorial tone of his comments, a la Hitler or (as others have noted) Joseph Stalin:

Hillman, senior fellow emeritus at the Policy Studies Institute, says carbon rationing is the only way to ensure that the world avoids the worst effects of climate change. And he says that the problems caused by burning fossil fuels are so serious that governments might have to implement rationing against the will of the people. "When the chips are down I think democracy is a less important goal than is the protection of the planet from the death of life, the end of life on it," he says. "This has got to be imposed on people whether they like it or not".

CIA, NBC, CNN and the Rest

It is just bizarre to me that the forces of these organizations have joined together to try and defeat George Bush and the Republicans just because they hate. You would thank that seasoned intelligence and media professionals could rise above emotion and the immaturity that plague junior high schoolers but it appears that it isn't true. To view the clear evidence look no further than the "sandbagging" of Republican candidates at the CNN debate which was no doubt orchestrated by the Clinton machine, NBC's wildly inaccurate reporting from Iraq about the war and Guantanamo about prisoners there (and the rest of the MSM's similar approach) and the CI A's outright incompetence, propaganda and leaks about secrets to the press.

Breaking down a few of these incidents when held to scrutiny during the Clinton administration: Unprovoked and, in at least one case, unapproved (by the UN) wars for Clinton: Somalia, Bosnia, Kosovo, Desert Fox (Iraq). Media, CIA, Liberal Outrage=zero. Wars for Bush: Afghanistan and Iraq. Outrage=100% (Hitler, criminal, "chimp in chief", idiot, fool, evil, imperialist, fascist, etc). The rendition program and it's "evil" twin extraordinary rendition (taking illegal enemy combatants to foreign countries to be held without rights and interrogated by the CIA). Invented in the late 1980's and used extensively by the Clinton administration who worked with Poland, Romania, the Czech Republic and East European countries to make terrorist suspects disappear below the legal radar screen. Outrage=zero (Al Gore, on the record has been quoted as saying "Of course getting this guy (terrorist leader) is against international law but so what? He's a terrorist, grab is ass!"). Bush administration using the existing prison and rendition system that the Clinton's and the CIA setup, outrage=100% "Saddam Hussein has weapons of mass destruction, he will use them" Speech by Clinton in 1998. Outrage=zero George Bush, 2002, same speech and..."lied and people died". Outrage=100%

Shall I go on? No? What chance will conservatives have of winning the presidency in 2008? Less than 50/50 and no because Americans just want a Democrat after all "these years of suffering". That's what the aforementioned organizations want you to think, that's their spin, their i"inevitability" marketing ploy. That will be difficult to overcome.

It brings to mind a bigger issue: None of these organizations (especially the CIA) should be in any way partisan. Isn't that disturbing that the fate of the free world can be controlled by these people (no matter their agenda or politics). They're just supposed to report and analyze aren't they? Who died and made them king makers?

National Intelligence Estimate (NIE) on Iran

It was a sad day when I learned and understood that the CIA, NSA, DoD, FBI and other intelligence gathering institutions were run by an extensive network of Democrats and other liberal progressives. My sorrow and anger only worsened when these supposedly dedicated and loyal Americans began leaking secrets to the press, having one of their own agents push her husband for a job that he was set to sabotage regarding nuclear materials and then lie about her "under cover" work to make it appear that her identity was a "secret" all to try and make the Bush Administration look bad. In fact, the entire CIA and NSA seem to be infected with the same Bush Derangement Syndrome (BDS) that has the NY Times and the Washington Post saying and doing irrational things.

Now the q007 NIE on Iran is published and it totally contradicts conventional knowledge and wisdom on Iran. It does so in an almost BDSish manner after indicating that Iran quit pursuing the nuclear option in 2003 (Bush was trying to make up the intelligence just like he and evil Cheney did in Iraq and we're not going to let him do it in Iran so...Iran stopped its nuclear program in 2003....so there Bush!).

This might be great news if it weren't so laughably partisan and full of BDS. Want to know why? NIE's are put together by more than a dozen (decidely liberal) intelligence organizations including the CIA and, the last bastion of "Jimmy Carterism" in the USA, the State Department. Here's what the group said on Iran in their 2005 NIE: "....we can with a high degree of confidence confirm that Iran is determined to develop nuclear weapons despite its international obligations and international pressure". While not exactly opposite in wording it is clearly intended to be exactly opposite in meaning, from the 2007 NIE: "...we can with a high degree of confidence confirm that we do not know whether [Iran] currently intends to develop nuclear weapons" and "in fall 2003, Tehran halted its nuclear weapons program."

All of these "intelligence" players are still in place at the same organizations. In 2005 they could, with a "high degree of confidence" say that the Iranians were going full throttle on their nuclear program but in 2007 with a "high degree of confidence" that the program halted in 2003.

Does that make any sense at all? If you came up with completely opposite conclusions and decisions at your job just two years apart that encompassed the same periods (you're sure that in 2005 Iran is working on nuclear weapons but oh, sorry in 2007 they STOPPED the program in 2003 but....you didn't know that in 2005????) wouldn't you lose your job? Sounds like the utterly partisan and liberal propaganda that we have gotten out of the CIA et al since George Bush took office doesn't it?

2008 and Choices

It seems to me in the big picture that there are several individual choices for Presidential candidates but that there are just two choices in direction. I won't take in post about individual candidates but about direction.

We can take the path of least resistance, the easy way and the populist's road: Redistirbution at some level of the wealth, multiculturalism, health care, disability, guaranteed unemployment and other "universal" entitlements, the embrace of Marxism and pacificism in the face of hostility.

We can also take the highest of roads, the correct and responsible course: Free markets, traditional American values, and defense of liberty at any cost.

Once upon a time, and not really that long ago, there weren't two directions for America. Both Democrats and Republicans thought along similar lines. Once upon a time, whole groups of Americans didn't cheer against us, didn't hope for America's defeat, didn't think think the country was evil. But that time has passed and may never return.

But in our time, there are fewer of us to choose the right direction for America. Will we have the courage to stand up those who have truly lost their wits or their nerve or their sense of morality? Will enough of "them" snap out of it and help set us right? And what will happen if America chooses the "low road" and falls into the death spiral that Europe finds itself in? Will we, could we pull out of it?

I just spent the very best day of my life with you. It was a Saturday, we had all day together and I never really took my eyes off of you, never stopped holding you, never was away from you. You have given my life real meaning. I have you to live for, to teach and to love. If I never have another dollar, another material thing, another place to live or another friend it will not matter-My love for you will sustain me.
